Merefsa official sponsor of SAG Team (Stop And Go Racing Team) of the MotoGP World Championship Moto2 with our racer Luis Salom.
At Merefsa, in our 50th anniversary (1966-2016), we've looked after sharing our passion for racing becoming this year official sponsors for the SAG Team (Stop&Go) for the Moto2 2016 MotoGP World Championship.
Presentation of the new team, managed by Eduardo Perales, has been a great success with Qatar's debut of the rider from Mallorca Luis Salom. He's achieved a brilliant 2nd position in the first test of the season of the Moto2 MotoGp World Championship, The commenrcial Bank Grand Prix de Qatar.
At the end of the race Luis Salom commented:
I am very happy with this result and also satisfied because we did a step forward in our performance. We had a tough preseason, with two crashes in Jerez and two more here in Qatar, one of them quite fast and painful, which made incomplete my confidence on the Kalex 2016, but today's race has been a turning point. Our goal was to be in the top 8 and the last time I check the board of the team I was 7th, so I was where I had to be, but we still had many laps to dispute so I kept concentrated to maintain my lap pace. I was 5th and in front of me, a little far, I had Cortese and Corsi, so I tried to make a high and consistent lap by lap, I was making 2’00 low times and at the last lap I catch them. I overtook Cortese in the second corner and I prepared the rest of the lap to overtake Corsi at the end and I did it. When I cross the finish line I saw my team celebrating but I didn't know in which position I finished so I went to the park ferme and I saw that I was second. It was a great race, even with no penalizations because we had a good performance so for Argentina we will be ready. I want to thank the team all the effort and confidence they put on me, to my family for being there always, to my manager Marco, the sponsors and all my fans for the great support.
9th FOR LUIS SALOM IN THE SPANISH GRAND PRIX AT JEREZ
The truth is that I’m not happy with the race, it wasn’t good, I did some mistakes at the beginning and I couldn’t be fast, right in the moment which would have placed us in good positions. For the WarmUP we did some changes on the bike set up and for the race too and didn’t work well. I’m the responsible of what happened because I’m the person who has the last word of how I want the bike to hit the track so I’m quite frustrated. Anyway, we gained some points, that’s positive, but I hope in Le Mans to be up in the classification.
10th FOR LUIS SALOM IN THE FRENCH GRAND PRIX TRACING A WEEKEND CONDITIONED BY AN EAR INFECTION.
I am so happy finishing the French GP in the TOP 10, since my conditions when I arrived to Le Mans didn’t allow me to be 100 percent. Before coming to France, I was in the hospital due to an internal and external ear infection, and the doctor had to perforate my eardrum in order to be able to fly. I couldn’t sleep well at night so I went tired to all the trainings. Anyway, thinking of the sponsor and team, I wanted to race and do it as good as possible, because of their effort every weekend. The race was amazing but very difficult at the same time, the good thing is that from the beginning I was with the group and little by little I could achieve the 10th position 4 laps before finishing. I had a hard battle with Schrötter, he was the 9th, we touch each other sometimes and that made me not to continue the 7th and 8th racer. In the last lap, I had to fight against Oliveira and Siméon, with the bad luck I almost fall in the last turn. I had to do it straight finishing the 9th. But in the end, race direction decided I had to lose a position, something we respect. Now, I only hope to be well prepared for Mugello.
